Josie
Who they are
Claude Whelan’s assistant at Regent’s Park: the person who comes when he is summoned, is sent on the errands he will not put in writing, and comes back “panting a little” (C09). She is the First Desk’s hands — told to call Reginald Blaine when the Service decides it wants something from the stationer’s shop, and giving Taverner a sit-rep when the day at the Abbey begins (C12).
Book 5 — London Rules
- C10 — Summoned by Whelan and sent to call Dancer Blaine; back in the room while he reads Ho’s transcript.
- C11 — Named as the person the Park uses to reach the fixer.
- C13 — Delivers Taverner’s sit-rep during the memorial service.
Book 6 — Joe Country
- C01 — Named in the chapter’s list of people as the girl on the Hub whom Claude Whelan had kept an eye on; she does not appear in the scene itself.
- C02 — Refuses Lech Wicinski’s invitation to a drink, as his HR letter requires — the first sign of how completely the Park has cut him off.
- C10 — Brings Taverner the delayed go-dark notice decoded from a civilian mobile in Pembrokeshire, and is told to file it under forget.
